New eSage Coordinator Bio

JUNE 14 HBee (Heather Bauer) BIO: Certified Teacher, Mary Poppins, & new eSage Coordinator:

Greetings, Families! I have been with this school since January, and have been so incredibly impressed with Sage International - both as a school and as a community. It follows that I am equally blown away by what Kadie and Will have created in the eSage program...it has evolved into something dynamic and juicy that kids can really sink their teeth into - and I am thrilled to have the honor of receiving the reigns for this new leg of the journey!

A bit about me: I come to Sage with 15 years teaching experience in Montessori, private, and charter schools. I have taught all grades K-8 in that time - including art studio, and have written curricula in a wide variety of subjects (incluing inquiry units). As a visual artist, musician, gardener, and writer, I find infinite value in inspiring children to explore their inner world to discover and nurture who they are, their relationships with others and their cultures, and to their planet as a whole.

eSage Summer Program 2013 This summer at eSage there will be 5 main areas of focus:

Organic Farm & Gardening (education & outreach partnership with Draggin Wing Farm, urban farm tours, eSage Garden prep, planting, tending, harvesting, & food processing)

Community Service Projects (Like a Smoothie Shack to raise money for an indiviual or a group in need)

Movement through Games, P.E., Swimming, Dance, and more

Art & Music Exploration, and Creativity Development (Nature Journaling,
Wax Encaustic Art, Collage, Mural Painting, Learn, Write, & Play songs)

Fun & Adventure

These components form a recipe for fun that will keep kids of all ages engaged in exploration, growth, and continued learning about the world around them. Each week, a different IB Principle will be highlighted and revisited with purpose and intention. When possible, we will divide groups into older and younger kids, and form activities around their corresponding interests and capabilities.
